How to Let Your Style Boost Your Confidence

Before you can shine through your personal style, you have to learn how to feel confident in your outfit choices. To be 100% certain in this, we've gathered a few tips that will guide you.

1. Learn how to dress for your body. 

The key to your perfect look is to embrace your best features. Flaunt what you love about yourself and dress to accentuate it.

2. Know the colors that pair perfectly with your skin tone. 

Experiment with different colors to find out which hues work best with your complexion. This goes for both your paler months during Winter and tanner months during Summer.

3. Spend five more minutes getting ready each day.

Allowing yourself an extra 5 minutes every day will give you more time to play with your outfit and allow for more creativity and to look even more polished.

1. Stop waiting and dress your best right now.

Are you stuck on waiting for a "next chapter" to dress your best? That can include things like waiting to lose weight, start a new job/career or moving to a new city. You have to remember that life continues and everyday is another opportunity to put your best foot forward and your best outfit on. Never wait for some distant point in the future to embrace your style. There is no time like the present!

2. Don't copy others, own your style.

Inspiration is everywhere and we aren't saying to not allow yourself to be inspired by what is on trend or what your favorite fashionista is wearing. However, put yourself first always. Think firstly about your uniqueness, personal quirks and learn to never let what makes you different fall onto the back burner just to emulate someone else's style. This way you are always dressing for you and what suits you best.

3. Purge your closet if pieces that don't make you feel good.

If every time you open your closet you see garments that make you feel down or not your best self, it’s time to do something about that. Get rid of clothes that don’t fit you perfectly or have you feeling like you need wear them in order to cover up or blend into the crowd. That isn't what your wardrobe is meant for. Your clothes are meant for you to feel unique and wonderful! If you don’t feel comfortable in it, don’t wear it. Simple as that.

4. Expand your fashion comfort zone, one piece at a time

Think of your comfort zone as a muscle that you can train to grow little by little and piece by piece. Wanting to take a fashion risk, but not sure where to start? Try pairing a new bold garment with one of your basic pieces. It's all about taking it one step at a time until your comfort zone encompasses looks that you love and have always wanted to rock.

5. Create a uniform.

A big part of owning your personal style is to develop your uniform, i.e. go-to outfit. This is a look that you have perfected and can throw on and go with little thought, but all the confidence in world. We all hate that inevitable (and often untrue) feeling of not having anything to wear. Having a uniform helps act as the structure to create easy and comfortable looks that are unique for you. If your lifestyle, career or everyday activities range from casual to dressy, try to create two go-to looks you can reach for and feel amazing in on a moments notice.
