Franklin Evans was born in Reno, Nevada. He Started his studies in Stanford University in CA. He has done a few Master’s degree in art at the University of Iowa, and a MBA at Columbia University in NYC. Since he started his artist career he has had shows in many cities in the U.S. such as San Francisco, Boston, New York, and Houston. Also he has exhibited in solo shows internationally in Milan and Toronto. Groups shows include cities such as as London, Venice, Boston, New York, Paris, Aspen, among others. He has been the recipient of several awards like the NYFA Fellowship Painting Finalist and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. His work is part of many public collections including: El Museo del Barrio, The Progressive Art Collection, Orlando Museum of Art, Fondation pour L’art Conteporain in France.
In his paintings Evans uses a process that is wedded to a thinking painter’s studio. He exhibits the paintings within an installation that reflects the studio in which each painting was made.  Even tough his paintings read as collaged studio elements (visual notes, painter’s tape, and process detritus) on canvas the work is made with acrylic on canvas with no actual collage.
The deceiving aspect of the work emerged from his ongoing observation of his residual studio elements. He digitally captures and prints parts of the paintings as he paints them. He likes how the printer imprecisely reproduces what has been photographed and uses this imprecise print to further construct each painting. The paintings offer their own Tristram Shandy moments, describing for the viewer their coming into visual being. Similar to his paintings his project as an artist has become a fluid description of his coming into being an artist in rapt relationship to art heroes past like Matisse, Duchamp, Newman, Mondrian, Stella, Judd, Irwin, and others.
